Legacy Windows Driver Installation Guide

Due to changes in Microsoft’s certificate issuance policies, the latest drivers no longer support systems earlier than Windows 6.1.7601.

Therefore, on these legacy systems, you can only install previously signed (but now expired) legacy drivers.

  1. Install the latest SmartAgent first.
  2. Based on your system version, manually install the legacy driver.
  3. Disable automatic upgrades for this host in the Bonree ONE platform (to prevent the legacy driver from being overwritten).

Installation Steps​

  1. Extract driver.zip into the C:\Program Files (x86)\bonree\apm directory.
    (⚠️ Note: delete the existing driver folder in that directory before extracting.)

  2. Open CMD as Administrator and navigate to this directory.

  3. Run the following command to install:

    devcon auto

  4. Verify driver status:

    • Open Computer → Device Manager
    • Locate smartagentmnt and expand to see Bonree SmartAgent Device driver
      • Running: The driver is working properly and can automatically inject the APM agent
      • Error state: The driver is unavailable and cannot inject agents automatically
      • To disable, right-click the driver and select Disable Device
